Tranquility With Tea - Jonah and the Whale
Jonah is not only one of the minor prophets, but also the hero of a popular children’s Bible story. The Book of Jonah is read in Jewish services in its entirety on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the year in Judaism with the central themes being atonement and repentance. Jonah’s story is deceptively simple, but when read carefully it tells us much about the Divine, humanity, and the relationship of the two.
As part of our Service and acknowledging the Holiest Day of Yom Kippur, which is celebrated this weekend, Andy Crosland will read us through the Book of Jonah.
